Don’t Shoot the DJ (DSDJ) is a multi-service company, and we were very pleased to shoot images for them in March. These images have finally appeared in Artmosphere: The Art Perspective magazine, accompanying an article featuring the company. This magazine is new and up and coming, produced by Alex and Will Yaya – brothers, gallery owners of Crisolart Galleries in Barcelona and New York City, and phenomenal artists who are dedicated to numerous mediums. To be able to contribute to a growing magazine in its infancy was amazing, and we are always delighted to work with our friends from DSDJ who worked on production for the shoot.

The concept we developed was DJs Adam and Eve in front of a firing squad – check out what we came up with!

When she returned to Barcelona in September, we were so excited to shoot with her again. This time, we ventured out to the beach, Playa de Bogatell, to capture some amazing shots of her modeling swimwear.

The combination of her bold body art with her sexy figure and sultry stare became a visual trifecta for my Canon 5D Mark II. Thanks Renee for your great work!

ME was a lucky girl to be able to shoot with Juan and Nacho Yanes, brothers from Madrid, during their time in Barcelona. After seeing their deepset brown eyes and chiseled facial features against their muscular builds, she decided to focus on exterior shots, keeping the look very retro and natural. With a combination of candid images and direction, this is the story:

Although it is technically work, ME had so much fun putting together this videobook!

We were lucky to join him for another photo shoot, this time on location in the Parc del Laberint, an amazing park with an unlimited number of settings for gorgeous photographs. In addition to the beautiful maze of foliage, the park is adorned with countless staircases and fountains, a great location for a romantic stroll or a tranquil moment.

The two models for the shoot were Irene Suárez and Eila Carrera, who would don designs from the collection of corsets Encorsetate by Richard War. The designers themselves, Richard and Josep, were able to join us for the shoot as well, which was a great opportunity for us to have more background on the development and inspiration of these elaborate pieces. On hair and makeup, Susana Puigsegur was able to give these beauties a seductive and glamorous look with soft, natural curls. With Cristobal Lopez on board to assist Juan, the team was complete.

Renee Romano is a model who currently resides in NYC with whom Jason has worked with on various occasions in Los Angeles, California. Upon hearing of her trip to Barcelona, we decided to spend a day shooting at several amazing editorial locations as well as some studio shots. We asked our friend who does hair/makeup, Carolina Elizabeth to join us as well.

Because Renee has a great build for lingerie and swimwear, her body of work mostly includes sexy photographs which accentuate her voluptuousness. We wanted to try something different with her to capture her softer side and highlight her versatility.

We are so happy with the photo shoot, and most of all, to have had a chance to work with an amazing model and friend.

ME’s objective was to make Spanish cuisine accessible for the average American. Because not everyone has the time to prepare abuela’s paella recipe or to form dozens of handmade croquetas, we decided to highlight the simplest tapas, or appetizers that are symbolic of Spain.

One of Catalunya’s signature starters is pan con tomate, or bread with tomato. A simple combination of bread, garlic, tomato, and olive oil, the quality and freshness of each ingredient is key in the success of the final product. This is why Oli Artesa Extra Virgin Olive Oil is perfect for this dish with its smooth, rich flavor and aroma. Add a few finishings like roasted red peppers or anchovies on top, and you have a delicious and healthy snack!

Gambas al ajillo, or garlic shrimp, is a simple Spanish dish that can really impress! With only a handful of ingredients, the flavor of each component is truly highlighted, so a great olive oil is essential for the success of this appetizer.

Another dish that represents Spain is the tortilla. No, you do not put beans, meat, cheese, and lettuce inside and wrap it up! This is actually the Spanish version of an omelet and is similar to a frittata. The most typical version has sliced potatoes, but ME loves to add cubes of chorizo to liven it up! Above is the hanger that we designed which includes these images.

We love to capture beautiful photographs of just about anything. Much like a painting is a work of art, so is a dress, a dish, a gadget, or a photograph. Who knows, maybe mom’s chicken soup is the next masterpiece!

In the past few months, we have developed a great friendship with fellow photographer Honey Gueco. Whenever we meet others who share the passion and dedication to photography and fashion that we have, we like to take the opportunity to learn from each other. Honey is a budding fashion photographer who, despite having started relatively recently, already has developed an extensive portfolio. What we embrace in her photography is her use of natural light to capture beauty in people, fashion, and settings because it is so different from our typical style of using multiple strobes.

When talking one day, Honey and ME decided to collaborate and produce a photo shoot together in our studio, The Wonderful Space. With four models, two hair/makeup artists, and two photographers, it is amazing how the style of each photographer can shine through in the finished product. When hair/makeup artists Carolina Elizabeth and Carmina Camps, they got straight to work on the models while Jason and ME set up the lighting. Since it was a beauty shoot, we used the Broncolor Para FB 300 to accompany the key light with fills on each side as well as subtle contrast on the right. Meanwhile, models Carolina Bavio of Seven Model Management, Nuria Plaza of Sight Management, Irina Zabalotnicava of UNO BCN, and Irenne La of Francina Models underwent their transformations.

After seeing the combination of softness, strength, and femininity in their eyes and poses, a concept began to whirl in the minds of Jason and ME. The final edition of the photos would be appropriately paired with the lyrics of Helen Reddy’s iconic “I Am Woman.”

It was such a wonderful experience to shoot with Honey. Thank you so much, and to all the crew and models involved!!!

We have worked with fellow photographer Juan Rodrigo before, and were very happy to get another chance to create a making of video for him. On board again was Cristobal Lopez, another skilled photographer, to assist with the lighting scheme. Cristina Ocejo Rodriguez was modeling four different looks, including several designs of Richard War, all with a bald cap and variations of crystal adornments. The artist behind the jeweled brilliance was hair and makeup artist Susana Puigsegur. In the end, nobody could have asked for a better team for this shoot as everybody’s contributions were key in its success!

With corsets, lace gloves, risque chokers, and a lot of skin, Cristina looked gorgeous as she was able to express sensuality through her movement and expressions. Juan, equipped with his reliable Hasselblad, was able to both capture her natural softness and illicit strength and beauty in her poses.

We hope this video can express the overflowing talent that was present that day – don’t forget to watch it in 1080p HD!!!

We had a great time shadowing Juan and his assistant, Cristobal Lopez, another fellow photographer. We were joined by Marisa Renales Agudo, who was taking ‘making of’ pictures. With Juan’s Hasselblad on photography, Marisa and her Nikon on making of photos, and us capturing video with our Canon 5D Mark IIs, not a moment was missed.

The first at bat was spring: Irene Suárez, with whom we have worked before and achieved some of our favorite images of our career (do you remember futbolín?). On hair and makeup was the dynamic team comprised of Oscar Vera and Alvaro Sánchez, or better known as Handmade Studio. They were responsible for the colorful glimmers, mossy headdress, and floral fantasy that became spring.

Next: Michelle as winter. Oscar and Alvaro were able to transform her Asian features into an icy cool wonderland. Juan and Cristobal were able to achieve the glowing effect in her hairpiece by inserting a still light with a blue gel into the actual piece.

Maria de Dalmases then stepped up to the plate, and her bronze beauty was molded into the golden rusty ambiance of fall. Every branch and leaf on her wig is made of actual hair, and her sultry stare completed the season.

We know, we know…what about summer? Well, unfortunately due to a scheduling conflict, we were not able to stay and record all the fun in the sun. But, we at Studio Roshambo were able to put together this video that lets you behind the scenes.
